Arsenal secured victory over Tottenham on Saturday after running out 3-1 winners against their bitter rivals at the Emirates Stadium. But the win was about a lot more than just bragging rights for the Gunners.
It was a big statement win for Arsenal. After being defeated by Manchester United last month, it was the first time this season they'd beaten a member of the 'big six' and they also became the first Premier League side to beat Spurs this season.
North London Derbies are always huge occasions, but this was billed as a particularly big clash because both sides had started the season in such impressive fashion. However, Arsenal were the dominant side on the day as they moved four points clear at the top of the table.

Arsenal's comfortable win over their bitter rivals came as a surprise to a Gunners legend. Before the game, Martin Keown said that Arsenal were 'behind Tottenham' and that Conte's side had a huge chance of winning silverware this term.
"I think Arsenal are just behind Spurs, but that’s motivation enough to want to get in front of them," Keown told Mirror Football ahead of the North London Derby.
"I do feel this is the strongest Tottenham squad I’ve seen in years and I think they will be kicking themselves if they don’t win a trophy this year."
Spurs may yet go on to win silverware this season and finish above Arsenal, but based purely on Saturday's evidence, Keown's verdict on his old club being 'behind' Tottenham looks incorrect. After eight games, the Gunners have a four point cushion on Spurs, and they are the team to beat in the Premier League.
