Arsenal fans will love what Tony Adams did on Strictly Come Dancing

A few former footballers have tried their hand at dancing over the years. Robbie Savage, David James and Arsenal legend Alex Scott are among the ex-players to have appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in the past.

This year, another Gunners icon is participating in the popular BBC dance show. Tony Adams made his Strictly debut on Saturday evening, dancing alongside partner Katya Jones.

"To say I’m excited is an understatement - the lure of the sequins and the call of the salsa has me swapping my battered old football boots for a set of Strictly soft shoes," Adams said.

"[I] am absolutely thrilled to be giving it my all on this year’s 20th anniversary of Strictly Come Dancing I can’t wait to meet my partner - god help her - and start the dancing."

The former Arsenal captain did not disappoint on his Strictly debut, and unsurprisingly, his dance was Gunners-themed. 'Mr Arsenal' began his act by arriving on a giant cannon, sporting a red and white suit which had 'Adams 6' printed on the back. His partner, Jones, was also wearing a red and white outfit.

The pair danced to 'Go West' by Village People, but that soon turned into a version of 'one-nil to the Arsenal'. Both Adams and Jones could be seen singing along with the chant as it was blasting out.

Adams and Jones were given a score of 15 out of 40 for their routine. Anton Du Beke, one of the show's judges, brutally said: "When you come out, we don't know what you're going to do. As it turned out, neither did you!"
