Arsenal supporters have been left fuming with Gareth Southgate's decision to call-up Harry Maguire and Conor Coady to the England squad at the expense of Ben White. The 24-year-old has enjoyed a rich vein of form for the Gunners this season, playing a central role in the Gunners sitting top of the Premier League.
White, who sees his contract at the Emirates Stadium expire in 2026, has started in each of the north London side's domestic fixtures, operating at right-back. And, even out of position, the young centre-half has impressed and proven himself as one of the country's most underrated prospects.
In comparison, Maguire's stock is at an all-time low since joining Manchester United. He started in each of the opening two Premier League ties with Erik ten Hag's side suffering embarrassing defeats at home to Brighton and away to Brentford; Ten Hag hasn't started the defender since, with the club winning their next four league games.

With regards to Coady, he and Everton are yet to win a game this season, conceding at least one in all but their 0-0 draw against Liverpool. The stark contrast in form between White and the duo has ignited great conversation on social media as to why the Arsenal man has not been selected.
@PatrickTimmons1 said: "Ben White is quickly becoming one of the most underrated players in the Premier League. Absolutely scandalous to leave him out of an England squad that includes Harry Maguire and Conor Coady."
@arron2507 said: "Could of got in over Coady or Maguire but that's Southgate for you but at the same time who cares about the nations league do people even watch the games like that."
@CookieeJL said: "Southgate is a joke."
@ArrJayYes said: "From an England perspective, madness. there's 2-3 names minimum in that spot that he should be picked ahead of. from an Arsenal perspective, great...let him rest, keep him fresh."
@JohnJosephDaly, who makes a good point, said: "Remember when Southgate said he'd pick players on form and performance."
Speaking in February 2017, Southgate insisted that he would not picked players based upon reputation but on form instead, which offers food for thought. The England boss said: "I never pick on reputation - form has to come into it. You have to look at the opposition and the type of game you’re expecting and select the players best suited to that."
