Arsenal are still interested in a move for Manchester City star Joao Cancelo this summer, according to a report from German news outlet Kicker. The Gunners have previously been heavily linked with a move for the Portuguese international, however priorities have been elsewhere in the summer transfer window.
The immediate priority for Mikel Arteta appears to have been in reworking his midfield department, with the first signing of the window being Kai Havertz. The 24-year-old joins from rivals Chelsea on a deal worth up to £65million, with the manager hinting that a role in the central ranks will be his position in the side.
Then there's the saga surrounding Declan Rice, where two opening bids from the Gunners were turned down before their rivals City joined the race. They eventually dropped out though, once the north London outfit agreed a deal in principle for £105million with West Ham, with the finer details being worked upon to finalise it.
