Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale named on list of most impactful young players

Arsenal stars Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale are amongst the most impactful football players under the age of 25, according to the latest research.

The pair have become an integral part of Mikel Arteta's setup over the past season as the Spaniard looks to continue the Gunners' resurgence. Saka, who recently turned 21, is already an established starter for England too, whilst Ramsdale is in ongoing competition with Everton's Jordan Pickford for the Three Lions' No.1 jersey.

Although Saka only managed to score his first goal of the new season in Arsenal's 3-1 defeat to Manchester United earlier this month, the duo have played their role in the Gunners' fast start this campaign. With five wins from six, Arteta's outfit currently sit top of the Premier League table and the club's style of football has evidently improved over the summer.

The sky is the limit for the Arsenal duo, at least per the CIES football observatory's recent findings. According to their research, Saka and Ramsdale are among the world's most impactful players under the age of 25. In fact, they're atop of their respective technical profiles.

The Impact Score is a metrics developed to assess players’ sporting achievement and potential. It is calculated by taking into consideration the average match level in which players participated according to the experience capital method, official game minutes played over the last 365 days, as well as pitch performance compared to both teammates, opponents and same profile players.

The role-based approach used to determine technical profiles clusters players according to the level of their involvement in eight areas of the game with respect to teammates: air defence, ground defence, recovery, distribution, take on, chance creation, air attack and shooting.

Bukayo Saka currently heads the 'shooter creator' profile with a 93.1/100 whilst on the other hand, with a score of 90.6/100, Ramsdale is believed to be the most impactful young goalkeeper in world football, ahead of the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Of course, findings like these are always going to be controversial. What is clear though is that Arsenal have talented individuals on their books and with Arteta's help, they're likely going to improve moving forward.
