Arsenal drop double transfer hint after Newcastle tipped to make summer move

Arsenal have been busy in the opening ten days of the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have already seen two bids turned down for West Ham skipper Declan Rice, tested Ajax's resolve for Jurrien Timber and moved within touching distance of completing their first signing of the summer in Kai Havertz.

Yet there is expected to be a raft of departures out of London Colney in the coming weeks. Granit Xhaka continues to be on the verge of sealing a move to Bayer Leverkusen while Thomas Partey has attracted interest from three Saudi clubs.

Kieran Tierney is another name that has seemed destined to leave the Gunners. The left-back struggled for game time last term following Oleksandr Zinchenko's £32 million arrival from Manchester City.

football.london understands the Scotland international has interest from a number of clubs, including Newcastle. However, with three years left on his deal, Arsenal are in a strong position to negotiate the best deal for them.

The same can be said with Takehiro Tomiyasu. The Japanese defender had his season hit with injury and had to deal with Ben White's form at right-back, leading to uncertainty over his future in north London.

However, supporters appear to have noticed a slight change within the Gunners' official social media channel that hints the defensive duo could stay at the Emirates Stadium. On Twitter, Tierney and Tomiyasu are pictured alongside Martin Odegaard in next season's home shirt on Arsenal's Twitter page in the banner picture.

Both players have proved to be valuable players for Arteta over the years and certainly provide a different dimension next season. With Juventus pushing ahead for a move for Timothy Castagne, sticking with Tierney and Tomiyasu may prove to be smart business.
