The Gunners appear to be closing in on their new main man up front, with GOAL Brazil reporting that the club have made a €50m (£42.6m) offer for Gabriel Jesus and that the player has told Manchester City that he wishes to reunite with Mikel Arteta this summer.
Arsenal finds themselves in desperate need of added firepower following the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, in addition to the uncertainty hanging over Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah, who are currently set to leave once their contracts expire in June.
Nketiah has rejuvenated some optimism that he will extend his stay at the Emirates after a run of impressive performances, which have seen him start ahead of Lacazette and bag four goals in four games. However, the 22-year-old has made it clear that game time must be a guarantee wherever he ends up.

"There have been offers of a new contract, but at the moment my aim is to play football and play regularly. That's my ambition, and that's what I hope to do, but at the same time, I'm at Arsenal, I love Arsenal," he told the Beautiful Game Podcast. "For me to take the next step and get to where I think I can get to, I obviously need to consider getting more minutes."
With what appears to be serious efforts being made to sign Jesus this summer, it remains to be seen whether or not Nketiah will be satisfied with being the second-choice striker considering the City forward will likely become a regular starter. If he isn't, then all of a sudden, Arsenal will need to be on the hunt for another centre-forward.
A host of names have been linked with a move to north London, with the likes of Jonathan David, Tammy Abraham, Darwin Nunez and Alexander Isak all said to be of interest to Arteta and technical director Edu. But one reported target that now looks set to go elsewhere is Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
That's because The Telegraph is reporting that Newcastle United will submit a 'bold bid' to sign him in the coming months after identifying the England international as one of their 'priority targets' this summer.
Various reports claimed the Everton man was under consideration by figures at Arsenal, but interest had since cooled due to his inconsistent season with the Merseyside club. A number of injuries have meant that Calvert-Lewin has only made 14 league appearances all season, scoring three times in the process.
Despite his setbacks, you still get a sense that he could be a decent backup option to have in the squad, especially with the return of European football and the addition of five substitutions next season. Perhaps Arsenal could revive that interest should Nketiah leave, but with Eddie Howe now planning a serious move, alternative options may need to be considered.
