Arsenal could make use of Adama Traore’s transfer to Barcelona from Wolves to increase the north London’s side attacking firepower.
With Adama now at the La Liga club, Ousmane Dembele’s career at the Catalan giants is in serious doubt.
The Frenchman’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and Barcelona announced that they intend to sell the player in the January transfer window.
Spanish Journalist Gerard Romero has reported that Barcelona are willing to accept a loan swap for Ousmané Dembélé, which allows Arsenal to include Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a potential swap deal for the winger.
Despite the hardships Dembele has faced during his time in Spain, he hasn’t been the only recent big-money signing that struggled, and Arsenal could certainly be a place for him to find his best form once again, and a six-month loan creates a perfect audition opportunity.
And a deal may not prove too difficult to complete as according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein , Barcelona and Juventus have made official approaches to sign Pierre-Emerick Auameyang on loan until the summer.
Edu could use these negotiations to potentially include Dembele as part of a deal for Aubameyang, whose future at Arsenal looks to be over, due to a breakdown in relations between Mikel Arteta and himself.
Not only would Dembele improve the squad with his direct play, and his blistering pace but he will also provide briefing space for Bukayo Saka who has seemed to look burned out of late, due to the responsibility Mikel Arteta puts on his shoulders.
Arteta does not see Nicolas Pepe as a trustworthy option despite being the replacement for the youngster, he has featured heavily on the substitutes bench without receiving many minutes this season.
Dembele’s time at Barcelona as certainly hurt his reputation, but the Catalan club should certainly take a lot of blame for this due to their issue on and off the pitch.
Both Phillipe Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann also joined for major transfer fees and struggled at Barcelona, but they thrived elsewhere when given the opportunity, which is a fate that Dembele could also follow.
Arsenal have offloaded a lot of players in the January transfer window and with the Gunners lacking depth in a lot of areas, Edu will certainly need to bring in an addition or two before the winter window closes.
Dembele certainly would not be an expensive deal to complete due to his contract expiring in six months, it is just whether Arsenal are willing to take the risk on his injury issues, and agree to his potentially high wage demands.
