Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign young Spezia centre-back Jakub Kiwior if recent reports are to be believed.
The Gunners agreed a £21 million deal to sign Brighton's Leandro Trossard on Thursday after missing out on primary target Mykhailo Mudryk, who joined Premier League rivals Chelsea instead. However, that doesn't appear to be the only move they will make in the January transfer window, with Polish transfer guru Tomasz Wlodarczyk reporting that a deal for the aforementioned Kiwior is close.
The 22-year-old has quickly established himself as one of Serie A's most promising centre-halves in recent times, reportedly attracting interest from the likes of Juventus and AC Milan. However, it appears that it is Arsenal who have won the race for his signature.

Taking to social media, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano delivered an update on the deal. "Arsenal are closing in on deal to sign Polish centre back Jakub Kiwior from Spezia, here we go soon! Fee in excess of €20m, medical tests could take place this week.
"AFCDeal very advanced, as per @wlodar85 — all parties hope to get it sealed soon."
Kiwior can also play as a defensive midfielder, playing as a No. 6 19 times in the Italian top-flight last term, as per Transfermarkt. That will give Arsenal some much-needed cover in the centre of the park, with Mikel Arteta's side heavily relying on Thomas Partey to anchor their midfield in recent seasons.
“Partey, I think he is the best holding midfielder in the Premier League, as we talk at the moment", Arsenal hero Paul Merson said last month after the Ghanian's impressive display against Brighton.
