Arsenal close in on shock £20m move for Poland defender Jakub Kiwior after Leandro Trossard deal

Arsenal are in advanced talks over a deal for Poland centre-back Jakub Kiwior.

Negotiations are in the final stages and it is thought Kiwior will leave Italian side Spezia for a fee of around £20million.

As previously reported by Standard Sport, signing a new left-sided centre-back has been on Arsenal’s long-term list of priorities.

The Gunners have now swooped for Kiwior, who is left footed and will provide direct competition for Gabriel Magalhaes.

Kiwior fits Arsenal’s recruitment profile as he is only 22 and the club believe he has his best years ahead of him.

He started all of Poland’s matches at the recent World Cup in Qatar, leading to interest from AC Milan and Juventus.

Arsenal’s top target for this January transfer widow had been Mykhailo Mudryk, but Chelsea beat them to his signature.

The Gunners have moved on swiftly, though, and, as well as Kiwior, are set to sign Brighton winger Leandro Trossard.
