Arsenal have been slapped with an FA charge for their antics in the 95th minute against Newcastle United.
Mikel Arteta and his players were incensed in the final embers of Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium. With seconds on the clock, Granit Xhaka’s attempted cross into the box struck Jacob Murphy’s arm from point-blank range.
Arsenal players immediately surrounded referee Andy Madley to protest his decision to wave play on. Gunners boss Arteta also erupted on the touchline and clashed with the usually-cool Eddie Howe.

The ensuing VAR check agreed with the on-field decision as Newcastle held on for a vital away point on the road. After the game, Arteta called the decision “scandalous”, also pointing towards an earlier penalty shout involving Dan Burn.
Arsenal are now accused of breaching FA Rule E20.1, which “enforces all directors, players, officials, employees, servants, representatives, spectators, and all persons purporting to be its supporters or followers, to conduct themselves in an orderly fashion.”
The FA have given the Premier League leaders until January 10 to respond. A statement read: "Arsenal have been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20.1 following its Premier League match against Newcastle United FC on Tuesday 3 January 2023.
“It’s alleged that Arsenal FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 95th minute, and the club has until Tuesday 10 January 2023 to respond."
