Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has requested that the board help execute his "really promising" transfer plans ahead of the upcoming summer window. The Gunners have strengthened their squad considerably over the past few market opportunities, something that has seen them progress from back-to-back eighth finishes and a fifth-placed ending to last season, to pushing for the title this time around.
They have fallen just short of lifting the Premier League trophy this campaign though, as their incredible early season pace couldn't be sustained. With hopes of taking that next step in the following season, further additions to the squad will have to be made in the coming weeks.
football.london understands that West Ham captain Declan Rice is the top priority for Arsenal this summer as they look to revamp their midfield. Whether a deal can be negotiated remains to be seen as reports from Sky Sports claim that the Hammers are holding out for as much as £120million for the midfielder.

It could be a huge fee to land Rice along with a host of other transfer targets that could be available for the Gunners to make a move for. However, they are transfers that Arteta has requested further backing from the board for, which could take them to the next level.
He told the media ahead of the clash with Wolves on Sunday: "We have to seek excellence in everything that we touch and participate in so that it’s going to have a big impact at the club. In order to do that, we have a really promising plan.
"We may have to reflect a little bit, take a step back, make sure this is the right one and go again with more determination and hunger in the tummies to do even better."
