Arsenal and Man City handed Man United warning as Patrick Vieira makes title prediction

Arsenal and Manchester City have been warned of a "different" Manchester United in the title race this season by former midfielder Patrick Vieira. It comes as the Red Devils have put themselves in a position to become part of the title conversation in the Premier League.

The Red Devils earned a huge 2-1 win over Manchester rivals Man City at the weekend, putting them just one point behind them in the table. Their current gap to Arsenal sits at nine points, with a clash against each other just on the horizon that could be a decider in the race to the top.

"The only thing we can do is try to play better and focus on what we’re doing well," Mikel Arteta said on trying to block out title talk. "As well the team is out there and we’ve done things in a great way but there are still a lot of things to improve. We know that and we’re conscious of that and we’ll keep working the same way."

A win over rivals Tottenham helped their prospects as their rivals dropped points, but it has now brought in the potential of Man United being involved. While there's uncertainty over whether they can mount a credible title charge, former midfielder and Crystal Palace manager Vieira believes United are involved.

He told reporters on Tuesday: "When you look at their last couple of games, the number of wins and how close they are to the top, I think they can be [in a title race]," with the Eagles facing off against the Red Devils on Wednesday in a huge clash for both sides, with the south London side on a poor run of form, with Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Chelsea their fourth league defeat in their last five matches.

Vieira added: "It’s a different United [to the one we saw last season]. What will be important for us is to play like we did against Chelsea: with a lot of intensity and with a lot of discipline. At home, in front of our fans, if we manage to play the kind of game, we will have more chance of winning the game."
