Arsenal and Liverpool on alert after Bradley Barcola contract talks update as PSG asking price revealed

Liverpool and Arsenal have been put on alert by the news Bradley Barcola will not sign a new Paris Saint-Germain contract this summer.

Barcola is among the most desirable names on the transfer market this summer, with Real Madrid and PSG scrapping to win over RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.

He caught the eye with an impressive World Cup campaign as France were knocked out in the semi-finals, scoring three goals and assisting a fourth in eight appearances.

Liverpool are thought to be in pole position to sign Barcola, having given up on their pursuit of Diomande after seeing multiple bids rejected. Arsenal are also said to have been scouting the player this summer, and are also looking at Vinicius Junior.

Both clubs are expected to accelerate their interest in the player, though, after it was revealed on Sunday that he will not sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Frenchman is contracted to the club through 2031 but the door has been closed on the prospect of him signing improved terms this summer. He is now expected to leave this summer.

Liverpool are believed to be actively working on a deal to lure him to Anfield as Liverpool continue in their quest to replace Mohamed Salah. Barcola is open to the move.

They wil have to shell out an eye-watering fee for the 23-year-old Frenchman, who has had a £140m price tag slapped on him by PSG.

He has spent three years with the Parisian outfit since leaving Lyon in 2023, but has struggled to establish himself as a first-choice option as he competes with the likes od Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for playing time.

Now a two-time Champions League winner, though, PSG consider him to be one of the top wingers currently on the market. His age is also seen as a justification for that asking price, as are recent nine-figure moves involving Morgan Rogers and Elliot Anderson.

Liverpool also badly need to sign defenders in this window, particularly now Joe Gomez’s latest injury left them with one fit senior centre-back.
