Arsenal and Liverpool have joined the race to sign Nordsjaelland striker Andreas Schjelderup, according to reports from Calciomercato. The 18-year-old has been labelled as the "next Erling Haaland", having recently broken into the first-team setup at the club, scoring five goals in his opening 10 games.
It could see the Gunners rectify a mistake they made a few years back, missing out on Erling Haaland himself when he was at FK Molde. Former chief scout for the Norwegian club John Vik told the Athletic: "When they [English scouts] were seeing a big striker like Erling [Haaland], they were seeing a target man and I think they forgot to look at what else he could do. Liverpool could have got him. Arsenal could have got him."
It has proven to be a huge mistake, with Haaland going on to join Borussia Dortmund, where he continued to develop before making his move to Manchester City this summer. The deal only cost roughly £50million - plus large agents' fees - and he has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water.
