Arsenal and Juventus schedule crucial showdown over three transfers including Gabriel Magalhaes

Arsenal and Juventus are set for a crunch transfer showdown this week with the future of Gabriel Magalhaes and two other players up for discussion in north London. The Gunners are set for another busy summer in the market as they prepare for the return of European football.

The Italian giants have reportedly made the Arsenal centre-back a priority signing ahead of the summer transfer window, with veteran Giorgio Chiellini set to depart at the end of the season. As per Corriere dello Sport, Juventus chief Federico Cherubini flew to the UK this week for talks over the future of Gabriel with a potential swap deal on the cards.

Midfield duo Arthur Melo and Weston McKennie are the duo who Juve would reportedly consider including in a swap deal. With Thomas Partey's season once again interrupted by injuries, it is an area Mikel Arteta is eager to strengthen in the summer, with Arthur previously linked in January.

Arteta was asked about his lack of business during the January window after their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle, with the Gunners not adding to their squad in the winter. The Spaniard defended the business done, however, with more expected in the summer.

"We have done what we can, and with what we were allowed to do, what we could do and the resources we had from the start of the season," he said in his post-match press conference. "The team that we were able to build is what we were able to build and it’s the team that has taken us all the way here.

"It’s a really tough night. Normally, I can sit here and I can defend, but what we’ve done today, it’s not easy. Newcastle were one hundred times better than us in every department from the beginning to the end and it’s hard to accept to accept. But you have to accept it and that’s the reality of what happened today on that pitch.

"We knew [what was at stake], but we didn’t cope with it. We didn’t compete, we never got into the game, we put ourselves in trouble time after time, we lost every duel. Every aspect of the game we were second best and Newcastle totally deserved to win the match, probably by a bigger margin as well."
