William Saliba was the only survivor in the Arsenal starting 11 with Mohamed Elneny and Kieran Tierney also picked, all four usual first-team forwards were left out with Eddie Nketiah, Marquinhos, Reiss Nelson and Fabio Vieira in from the start.
The attacking quartet have all received opportunities in the first-team this season, all with varying success, but have been unable to quite match up to the difficult task of providing the quality that Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus all do.
Despite two of those names only arriving in the summer, the Gunners are expected to go back into the market for an attacker and a major update on who they could possibly seek to acquire has come to light.
PSV forward Cody Gakpo has been rumoured with a possible move to the Premier League with both Manchester United and Leeds United heavily linked with the Dutchman in the summer and now it has been revealed in a report by 90min that Arsenal were one of a number of Premier League clubs to send scouts to watch Ajax against PSV on Sunday.
Gakpo, who grabbed an assist in PSV's win over Ajax, has notched an incredible 30 goal involvements in 23 games so far this season which included another assist in PSV's Europa League win over the Gunners a few weeks ago where he also had two goals ruled out.
After another impressive performance from Gakpo against Ajax, Arsenal could be prompted to go after the 23-year-old in January especially with the recent update on another transfer target Mykhaylo Mudryk after it was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel, via the Daily Mail, that the Ukrainian talent's price had risen to £65million.
