Arsenal and Chelsea Matildas among the goals as part of preparation for huge Sweden clash

Australian trio Sam Kerr, Steph Catley and Caitlin Foord prepared for their upcoming international friendly against Sweden in style, with the Chelsea and Arsenal stars all finding the back of the net for their club sides' victories over Manchester United and Leicester City, respectively, on Sunday.

The matches marked the end of club football before the November international break, in which Australia are set to face FIFA No. 2-ranked Sweden before taking on Thailand.

And the Matildas attackers looked on the money in the run-up to the double-header, sending a clear warning to their Swedish opponents.

Catley and Foord each got their name on the scoresheet for the Gunners in a cool 4-0 dispatching of Leicester. Arsenal teammate and Sweden international Stina Blackstenius had a front row seat to the action, which extended their side's perfect start to the season and marked the pair's first league goals this season.

Meanwhile, Kerr found the incisive opener in Chelsea's 3-1 win at United before turning provider two minutes later, after some intrepid hold-up play led to her releasing Chelsea teammate Lauren James, who slotted coolly home.

The goal marked Kerr's sixth in three games and her third league goal of the season.

The trio's splendid efforts placed their clubs level on points at the top of the Women's Super League table going into the break, though Arsenal currently have a game in hand over their London rivals.

The WSL returns to action on Saturday, November 19th when the Gunners welcome third-placed Manchester United, following their first league defeat of the season at home to Chelsea.

Meanwhile, the Blues welcome London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday with manager Emma Hayes potentially set to make a remarkable comeback to the touchline less than five weeks after undergoing an emergency hysterectomy.
