Arsenal and Aston Villa analysts charged by FA with improper conduct over press-box fracas

Analysts from Arsenal and Aston Villa have been charged by the Football Association (FA) with improper conduct after an incident in the press box following the two team’s Premier League meeting in February.

The Gunners late victory, sealed by Jorginho’s injury-time shot hitting the crossbar and going in off Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez, resulted in a fracas in the stands.

Arsenal technical analyst coach Miguel Molina and Aston Villa head of performance analysis Victor Manas were the two men involved.

A heated altercation was reported by Standard Sport at the time with the FA looking into the matter.

The result of that investigation has been revealed with both men charged and given until Friday to respond.

A statement read: “It’s alleged that Victor Manas’ behaviour during the 94th minute was improper and/or violent, and that his behaviour in the tunnel after the final whistle was improper.

“It’s alleged that Miguel Molina’s behaviour and/or language during the 94th minute was improper and/or abusive and/or insulting, and that his behaviour in the tunnel at the final whistle was also improper.”

Both Mikel Arteta and Unai Emery said immediately after the final whistle that they were not aware of the details behind the incident.

Arsenal boss Arteta said: “Like anything that happens in the stands. We will look at it, address it and take action if it’s necessary.”
