Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira football.london understands.
The Gunners have been tracking the Portugal under-21 international for some time and have now reportedly agreed a €40 million (£34 million) deal. This is lower than Vieira's release clause which is thought to be at around £42 million as Arsenal seek to take advantage of Porto's financial struggles.
Vieira has been heavily linked with Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. The 22-year-old netted seven goals and provided a further 16 assists last season and he still has three years left on his contract with Porto.
