Arsenal took a major step towards the knockout stages of the Champions League as they eased to a 2-0 win over Sevilla.
The Gunners would have booked their place in the last-16 with two games to spare had their victory been matched by a Lens win over PSV, but the Dutch side delayed that particular achievement with three points of their own.
That will not bother Mikel Arteta too much, with Arsenal well on track to secure top spot in Group B after goals from Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka have them a comfortable win. The Gunners have a four-point advantage over PSV and Lens, heading into their final two group-stage matches against those sides.
Arsenal came into this match having lost their previous two games, against West Ham and then a controversial defeat to Newcastle, but it never looked like being three in a row here. Kai Havertz headed a huge chance wide inside the opening minute, as the Gunners started well.
They got the goal they deserved on the half-hour mark, as Jorginho opened Sevilla up with a sensational pass. That set Saka clean through, he squared for Trossard and the Belgian swept home a first-time finish.
Arsenal looked well-capable of doubling their advantage, with Gabriel Martinelli in particular causing Juanlu Sanchez huge problems, but it was not until almost midway through the second-half that the second goal came.
Martinelli was unsurprisingly involved, playing Saka in on goal, and the England star just about stayed onside as he then drove into the box, chopped inside onto his left foot and curled a lovely strike into the far corner.
There was concern for Arsenal in the closing stages, as Saka limped off with an ankle issue after landing awkwardly, with that the only sour note on a night when Arteta's side solidified their control of Group B, ahead of Lens' visit in three weeks' time.
