Arrow keen to make Origin amends for Qld

South Sydney's Jai Arrow is desperate to redeem himself at State of Origin level for Queensland. (AAP)

South Sydney forward Jai Arrow admits he owes Queensland plenty after being kicked out of State of Origin camp last season.

The 26-year-old was fined $35,000 and suspended for a game after breaching COVID-19 protocols and sneaking a woman into the team hotel last year.

But he says new coach Billy Slater has assured him that won't be held against him when it comes to selecting this season's squad.

Arrow, who has played nine Origin matches since debuting in 2018, said he dined with Slater before the season and addressed the matter.

"He was great, he said what's happened is in the past and everyone makes mistakes, and just wants (me) to have a clear mind going into this season," Arrow told reporters.

"Obviously I made a pretty bad mistake but it's in the past ... I feel like I owe a lot of people and to the state if I do get that opportunity to go out there and do my job.

"It's something I hold so close to my heart wearing that maroon jersey, it's such a special moment."

With all seemingly forgiven, Arrow appears a great chance to join the squad with his versatility across the forward ranks making him a strong bench candidate.

He's giving the Rabbitohs 118 metres per game, having run for 100m and three tackle busts for Queensland in his only outing last series.

"It's obviously about a month away, I just want to do my job at club land and hopefully get the opportunity again to go in and give it a crack," Arrow said.

"I don't really think too far into the future, I'm more a 'live in the moment' person.

"The rewards will come off the back of that if I'm doing my things right and doing my job for my time here."
