Arriva buses could return this week as crunch strike vote held
Crunch votes will take place this week that could bring an end to more than three weeks of Arriva bus strikes..
Today marks the 27th continuous day of bus strikes by Arriva drivers, with no Arriva services across the whole of Merseyside. However, drivers could be back on the roads this week.
A company spokesperson said: "Following re-convened pay negotiations today, Arriva has tabled an improved offer that has enabled Unite the Union and GMB to ballot members on this offer. The ballot will take place on Monday, 15th and Tuesday, 16th August 2022.
"All parties are working hard to bring the industrial action to a conclusion with the desire to resume service on Wednesday, 17th August.” The ongoing strike over drivers’ pay has meant there have been no Arriva services across Merseyside for more than three weeks."

'Devastated' dad's tribute to daughter, 18, who had a 'beautiful soul'
The dad of a teenager who took her own life has paid tribute to her.
Macie Jayne Vella, 18, took her own life on July 26. Dad David Vella's said Macie - who was "loved by so many" - will be "missed dearly". David, an executive director of a software company in Madrid, received the devastating news from Macie’s grandfather, Karl, via a phone call, and says the ordeal was "absolutely horrendous."
David said: "Myself and our family are completely devastated and are grateful for the kindness and respect that has been shown from family, friends and people in the town. Macie was a beautiful soul, so full of life, very kind and caring and loved her family so much, she had a troubled mind and after the death of her biological mother in her early years, she struggled with her emotions and was diagnosed with EDD ( emotional dysregulation disorder) last year.

Cars miss mobility scooter by inches as video captures reckless rider
Police stopped a person on a mobility scooter as they rode along a dual carriageway.
A video shared on Instagram shows the person driving the mobility scooter along the major road near Halewood. The video was shared on Sunday at around 9am.
Posting on Twitter, officers said: "When following satnav directions, please also apply some common sense, read the situation and the road signs, unlike this mobility scooter rider on the A5300."
