Arran named one of UK’s most beautiful island escapes by luxury travel magazine

Thanks to the rise of the Scottish staycation, we know that our stunning islands are among the best in the world.

From the horseshoe shaped bay at St Ninian's Bay in Bute, to the white sugary sands of Shetland, we certainly have our fair share of truly breathtaking locations.

As the popularity of staycations continues to increase, so does the world's knowledge of our wonderful isles. In fact, a luxury travel magazine has named Arran as one of the most beautiful island escapes in the country.

Just £17.80 for a return trip from Glasgow Central to the island's anointed capital, Brodick - one of the UK's dreamiest destinations is a lot closer than you might think!.

Travel mag Suitcase named the Isle of Arran as just one of two Scottish islands, along with the Isle of Eigg, in their top nine nationwide list.

Writer Lucy Kehoe picked out Arran's 'moss-green lowlands, rocky rising crags, heather-blanketed hills and heavily forested glens' as just some of the reasons for its beauty. And it's hard to disagree.

A hop on the train and a short ferry ride away from Glasgow, you can "climb up to Coire Fhionn Lochan for a waterside picnic beside looking-glass waters, then clamber into a canoe to explore the deserted coves along the island's shoreline".
