Arnold Aldi customers unable to buy fresh food as fridges break down

Customers at an Aldi in Arnold have been left unable to buy fresh food at the start of the Jubilee Bank Holiday due to a fridge breakdown. Meat, dairy and vegetable aisles lay bare at the store off Mansfield Road on Thursday, May 2.

The supermarket chain cited a chiller breakdown as the reason shoppers were unable to buy the products. A number of signs stuck up on the shelves read: "Due to a chiller breakdown, we have no chilled or fresh meat for the time being."

Just a few items of vegetables remained in the normally chilled sections. The issue with the fridges began on Wednesday and work is underway to repair them, according to staff at the Aldi.

It is unclear when they will be fixed. The issue comes at the start of the Jubilee Bank Holiday, with many people seeking fresh food for parties and other events.
