Arne Slot hopes Mohamed Salah can stay with Liverpool for a very long time, as the Egyptian’s contract issues continue to grow.
Arne Slot Pleads With FSG Over Mo Salah Contract Situation
The Liverpool star, who is the favourite to win the PFA Player of the Year award on UK betting sites, put in another superb display for the Reds in their 3-3 draw with Newcastle, scoring twice and contributing with an assist.
Slot spoke about the importance of Salah and how he expects the Egyptian international to stay in Merseyside for a very long time.
Slot said: “Every time we need Mo Salah, he scores a goal. We are hoping and expecting he can continue this for a long time. He was outstanding in the second half, he did many special things for us.
“He is a special player. For one half, you think he might not be having his best game but then he produces goals, an assist and hits the bar. Very few players can do that.
“It is difficult for me to predict the future but but the only thing I can predict is that he is in a very good place and in a very good team that provides him with opportunities.”
Drawing at St James’ Park saw Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table drop down to seven points as Arsenal and Chelsea both picked up wins.
The Dutch manager had mixed opinions on his sides’ display, praising the performance in the second-half but being heavily critical of Liverpool’s start to the game.
He said: “I have mixed feelings, we were outstanding in the second half but we were not good enough in the first half. Maybe 3-3 is what the game deserved.”
The Reds are back in action on Saturday as they take a trip across Merseyside to face fierce rivals, Everton at Goodison Park – with the Toffee’s coming off a huge win over Wolves.
