Arne Slot frustrated as Alisson aims dig at Nottingham Forest after shock Liverpool loss

Arne Slot said he was “frustrated” by his Liverpool side “hardly creating any chances” in their limp 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday.

Slot suffered his first defeat as the Reds’ head coach as Callum Hudson-Odoi struck the game’s only goal for the visitors midway through the second half.

Liverpool had come into the game with three wins from three and without having conceded a goal in the Premier League season but returned from the international break to deliver their worst performance of the campaign yet.

“The result frustrates the most, and we cannot be happy about how the game went”, he said afterwards. “It was a stop-start game and we hardly created any chances.

“We only have to look at ourselves; we have to be better. Far too many times, we lost the ball around the area. It was not good enough. We have to be better with the ball.

“Our decisions and execution wasn't good enough. In general, we defended quite well, but the two fast players [Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga] came on and made it difficult. We took a lot of risks and in the end it was a very good goal.”

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, after conceding a goal for the first time this season, criticised Forest’s approach to the match.

“It was a shame”, he said. “Losing points at home is not good at all but the opponent today only wanted to defend and play for the long ball.

“We gave them that too easily when they scored. It was poor defensively from us. We couldn't create much, we had a lack of quality today, we needed more energy. It is three points we have lost today unnecessarily.”

He continued: “All the opportunities we had were not clear enough and they defended great, they threw themselves in front of the ball.”
