Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has explained why he decided to stay in the Eredivisie and reject an offer from Leeds United back in February. The Dutchman was heavily linked with the vacancy at Elland Road left by the departure of Jesse Marsch, who was sacked after the side's 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.
But no deal ultimately went through, with the 44-year-old staying with Feyenoord who look to be running away with the Dutch top-flight title as they sit eight points clear of Ajax at the top of the table.
Of course, Leeds were then linked to numerous other names like Andoni Iraola, Ange Postecoglou and eventually Javi Gracia, the man the club decided to go with.

Slot's side have also reached the Europa League quarter-finals and will hope to reach the semi-final stage after beating Jose Mourinho's Roma 1-0 in the first leg of their tie at home - with success being one of the main reasons why the Dutchman decided now wasn't the time to leave.
"Leeds is a very nice club," Slot told ESPN earlier this week. "In the middle of the season, with still so much to play for here, I didn’t think that was a good time to leave for England. It was also better from a family point of view to stay here for a while.
"The Premier League is the number one competition in Europe. I also think it is very valuable to leave somewhere in a positive way. Giovanni van Bronckhorst became a champion here, but a year later his life no longer looked so nice."
