Armed police officers were seen running through the streets of Liverpool laste this afternoon.
Eye witnesses said they saw armed police in the the Whitechapel area and close to Liverpool ONE. Several officers were also spotted at the top of the steps at St Luke's 'Bombed Out Church' where they initially appeared to be "arresting a man".
Merseyside Police's Force Incident Manager confirmed to the ECHO they received a call shortly before 5.15pm on Friday afternoon following reports of a male carrying a "large hunting style knife". The male was reportedly "threatening people inside Central Station".

However no arrests have been made and there have been no reports of any injuries. It is understood patrols have now stood down.
