Dozens of armed police officers have flooded into a quiet Welsh village and ordered residents to stay in their homes.
The ongoing incident in Llwydcoed near Aberdare has seen scores of patrol cars arrive at the scene, while floodlights focus on a nearby woodland, reports WalesOnline.
A witness described it as "very unusual activity" for the area and said that officers with "massive guns" were outside his home.
In a series of tweets, resident Dave Jones said: "Another dozen armed police have just gone past. I can see about six police cars around and about.
"Nobody is allowed to leave their houses. This is very unusual activity for a postcode like this.
"Increasing activity. What looks like floodlights are being carried towards the area of interest. There’s an ambulance at the top of the street."

A spokesperson told the BBC officers had been at the scene since around 4.45pm on Sunday.
They added: "We can confirm there is an ongoing police incident in the Llwydcoed area of Aberdare.
"The public are asked to avoid the area until further notice."
