A police helicopter circled over Leeds city centre as armed officers were out in force hunting for a wanted suspect who had been sighted.
The search spanned City Square and the Leeds Waterfront area, with officers seen combing through Whitehall Road along the bridge which crosses the River Aire. The suspect was not found and enquiries are ongoing as to their whereabouts.
Armed officers were also spotted in an unmarked vehicle, parked in the vicinity of Leeds Train Station and the Queen's Hotel. The investigation remains at an active stage.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Officers were deployed to the vicinity of Leeds train station this afternoon following a sighting of a wanted suspect. Enquiries are ongoing."
