Armed officers descended on Kingswood today (Friday, April 22) after police received a tip-off about a man possibly carrying a firearm. An anonymous caller contacted the police at 1.35pm and said they had seen a man entering a property, and that he may have had a firearm.
Armed police officers arrived and forced entry into the address but they found it empty, and did not find any firearms. They then searched the area and did not find anyone matching the description of the man.
An eyewitness told Bristol Live that they saw police enter the apartment and heard shouting. Pictures from the scene show at least three firearm officers stationed outside the apartment block.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said: "We received an anonymous call at 1.35pm about a male entering a property in Kingswood, stating the male may be in possession of a firearm.
"Armed officers attended the location and forced entry to the address but found it to be empty and no sign of any firearm. Officers also searched the surrounding area and did not find anyone matching the male's description."
The witness who contacted Bristol Live reported hearing officers shout "this the police, show me your hands" as they stormed the property in Taylor Close, close to the High Street. Other residents reported on social media seeing armed police nearby on Alma Road.
