Armed police called to reports of 'gun shots' in Bridgend

A large police presence was seen in Bridgend following reports of gun fire. Officers were alerted to reports of "what sounded like gun shots" at around 1.45pm on Tuesday, April 19, at an address in Park Street, Bridgend.

Armed police were deployed in response to the reports and a police helicopter has also been in attendance. Residents report seeing the helicopter circling around the Newbridge Fields area. South Wales Police have confirmed they gained entrance to the property and there were no reported injuries, however their investigations into the incident are ongoing.

A spokesperson said: "At around 1.45pm today officers were called after what sounded like gun shots were heard at an address on Park Street in Bridgend. Armed officers were deployed as a precaution and the police helicopter was also in attendance.

"Officers were able to enter the property and there are no reports of any injuries. The matter remains under investigation as South Wales Police officers continue to look into the circumstance surrounding this incident."
