A senior NSW Police officer has defended the actions of an officer who fatally shot a 48-year-old man at Tenterfield in the state's far north yesterday.
The 48-year-old man, a father of two, allegedly walked into Tenterfield Police Station just before 6pm on Thursday to confront police shortly after they had conducted a welfare check on him.
