Armed cops lock down Stirling street as residents warned 'stay indoors'

A man was arrested after armed police descended on a street in Stirling

Officers were called to an ongoing incident on Friars Street at 5pm and taped off the surrounding areas.

Residents in nearby Viewfield Street were warned to stay indoors as numerous emergency vehicles lined the road.

Photographs taken by locals show armed officers holding firearms responding to the incident.

Police Scotland's dog unit was also called out.

A 25-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection with a number of offences following an incident in Friars Street.

He is expected to appear at Stirling Sheriff Court today.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said : “A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged with a number of offences following an incident in Friars Street, Stirling around 5pm on Thursday, 9 March, 2023.

"He is expected to appear at Stirling Sheriff Court today."
