Armagh Observatory and Planetarium is bidding to become a Unesco World Heritage site.
The application, in partnership with the Irish astronomical observatories at Birr in Co Offaly and Dunsink in Dublin, is to seek listing on the UK’s tentative list for World Heritage status.
The World Heritage list currently includes 1,154 properties around the world, with 32 of these in the UK including the Giant's Causewa y and Causeway Coast site.
