The 49ers were still without defensive lineman Arik Armstead when they took the field for Thursday’s practice. He was listed as a non-participant in the session because of a foot injury for the second day in a row. His status for Sunday’s game in Philadelphia isn’t official, but consecutive missed practices certainly put his availability in doubt.
Armstead is a key member of the 49ers’ defensive front thanks to his ability to win inside as a pass rusher and his effectiveness in the run game. Pro Football Focus has him as the third-highest graded 49ers defender overall, he’s third on the team with 36 pressures, and his 13 run stops are the second-most among 49ers defensive linemen.
Other absences for the 49ers on Thursday included running back Jordan Mason (hamstring) and wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud (rib), both of whom were out of Wednesday’s session as well.
Starting right guard Spencer Burford was a limited participant for the second day in a row.
