Ariana Grande has reportedly lost hundreds of thousands of followers not long after launching a new song that appears to shut down criticism of her new relationship.
Grande, who is believed to be dating Ethan Slater, appears to make a reference to her love life in her new song Yes, And?.
The lyrics that appear to prompt the most eyebrow raises are, "Your business is yours and mine is mine, Why do you care so much whose d**k I ride?".
While it's unclear who the lyric actually refers to, it didn't stop fans speculating that it's linked to her new romance.
According to SocialBlade, Ariana's following has dipped by 369,630 followers since January 2024.
A larger proportion of followers decided to press the "unlike" button after Grande announced the launch of her latest song.
Raking in 380 million Instagram followers, it's unlikely that a few hundred thousand will make much difference to the artist's profile.
Nor does it seem like Grande is impacted much by what people think about her new romance.
The pop star had previously been married to Dalton Gomez, but the pair is said to have separated in January 2023 after two years of marriage.
Their split was only announced in July, and it wasn't long before reports surfaced about Grande dating her Wicked co-star Slater, after meeting him through work.
Grande and Gomez then submitted divorce filings in September. Slater had also similarly filed for divorce from his wife of five years, Lily Jay. His ex-wife later told Page Six: "[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl," as well as adding, "My family is just collateral damage."
The turmoil and short timeframe surrounding the breakups prompted some social media fans to brand Grande a "homewrecker". However, others have leaped to the star's defence alongside the hashtag #ApologiseToAriana.
The musician and her new beau appear to have also kept a relatively low profile, apart from the occasional sighting together. Nor have they directly addressed any speculation about their romance.
Ariana also stepped into 2024 with a poignant message for those who were getting involved with her life.
She said: "I have never felt more pride or joy or love while simultaneously feeling so deeply misunderstood by people who don’t know me, who piece whispers together and make what they want out of me and their assumptions of my life. I have learned how much more important one of those things is than the other."
