Argentina will have their eyes set on the final after a tough encounter against rivals Netherlands which had practically everything for the neutral while Croatia are no strangers to facing South American giants after they saw off early tournament favourites Brazil. Lusail Stadium will set the scene for the first 2022 World Cup semi-final and who will take be in this year's final.
La Albiceleste go into this match as the favourites at 5/6 with Betfred while Croatia are 4/1 and a draw is 12/5. This is the third meeting between the two sides at the World Cup but the first in the knockout rounds with Argentina winning their first meeting back in 1998 while Croatia evened the playing field 3-0, 20 years later.
Lionel Messi and his side will be grateful the reset on the yellow card rule starts now after picking up eight yellow cards against Oranje in the last round. A sigh of relief would have been made by the whole squad after that match which saw them lose their 2-0 lead with no answer to Louis van Gaal's long ball tactic but they will need answers to Croatia's style of play.
