Argentina fans shown on TV aiming racist and transphobic chants at Kylian Mbappe

A group of Argentina fans have been shown singing vile racist and transphobic chants towards the French national team and Kylian Mbappe.

The supporters, all wearing Argentina shirts, were being interviewed by reporter Matias Pellicciono from TyC Sports, one of the biggest sports channels in their home country. They are in Qatar ready for the start of the World Cup this winter, with Argentina one of the favourites.

But the interview was marred when Pellicciono asked them to perform a chant for the viewers back in Argentina. The group began to sing disgusting racist and transphobic chants both about the Les Bleus squad and about Mbappe personally.

They started by singing that the French players were "all from Angola" before then chanting "they f*** transvestites like f***ing Mbappe". The second part of the chant is Mbappe's alleged relationship with transgender model Ines Rau, though neither have confirmed they are together.

“Listen, it will be known, they play in France but they are all from Angola. How beautiful, they go running, they f*** transvestites like that f****ing Mbappé. His mother is from Nigeria, his father from Cameroon but on the papers… the nationality: French," sang the group.

Pellicciono eventually stepped in, first taking the microphone away and saying "no" before the continued the chant. He then took the microphone back and saying the songs are "censored".

TyC did not broadcast the footage on their social media channels, but one account has shared the video, which now has 7.4million views. France and Argentina are not even in the same group in Qatar, though they could meet in the Last 16.

That was the stage they met at in 2018's tournament, with France winning a thrilling game 4-3. Argentina face Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland in Group C, while France face Australia, Denmark and Tunisia in Group D.

France arrived in Qatar late on Wednesday night ahead of their first game next week. Argentina meanwhile landed on Thursday morning, having smashed the United Arab Emirates in their only warm-up game before the tournament kicks off on Sunday.

Superstar Lionel Messi scored a superb goal in that rout on Wednesday. And earlier this week, he tipped France to be one of Argentina's main challengers to win the World Cup this year.

"Whenever we talk about candidates, we always talk about the same teams. If I have to put some above others I think Brazil, France and England are a little bit above the rest," Messi told South American Federation CONMEBOL.

"But the World Cup is so difficult and so complicated that anything can happen. We are very excited. We have a very nice group that is very eager, but we think about going little by little.

"We hope to start the World Cup in the best way to face everything that comes after. The more you play and the more time you spend on the pitch, the more you get to know each other."
