Julian Alvarez's transfer to Manchester City is a boost for Argentinian football, their national team manager has said.
City confirmed the signing of Alvarez from River Plate on deadline day, with the 21-year-old South American Player of the Year remaining at the club until at least July. If River continue in the Copa Libertadores past that date, Alvarez could stay with the club until the end of the year.
Alvarez has signed a five-and-a-half year contract at City, and fans can get a first look at the forward when Argentina play Colombia on Tuesday night in their World Cup qualifier.
