How you position your arm during blood pressure checks can have an impact on the accuracy of the readings. Having your arm in the wrong position during blood pressure checks can substantially increase blood pressure readings, leading to a possible misdiagnosis of high blood pressure, which may result in unnecessary treatments, says a new study.
The new study published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, highlighted suggested that the misdiagnosis of blood pressure can be reported when the arm is not properly positioned and supported during a blood pressure check.
