Nurses look set to strike in a row over their pay. Royal College of Nursing union officials believe enough of their members have voted for winter industrial action, which could take place before Christmas.
It's the first time that nurses have joined a national strike over a pay dispute. And the strike is likely to see patients facing even more disruption in the middle of an NHS waiting list crisis.
The union’s general secretary Pat Cullen said: “Our strike action will be as much for patients as it is for nurses – we have their support in doing this.”
