Are Wall Street Analysts Predicting the Bank of New York Mellon Stock Will Climb or Sink?

New York-based The Bank of New York Mellon Corp (BNY), with a market capitalization of $108.2 billion, is a global financial services company providing asset custody, administration, investment management, data, and technology solutions. It serves financial institutions, corporations, insurers, banks, and retirement funds, helping clients manage assets, improve efficiency, navigate financial markets, and drive growth.

Shares of this leading financial services company have significantly outperformed the broader market over the past year. BNY has climbed 55.2% over this period, compared with a 19.9% gain for the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX). The stock has continued to outperform the index in 2026, gaining 38.1%, compared with the S&P 500’s 12.9% gain over the same period.

Compared with the State Street SPDR S&P Bank ETF (KBE), BNY has also outperformed. KBE has gained 25.9% over the past year and 16.2% year-to-date.

On July 15, Bank of New York Mellon released its Q2 FY2026 earnings, with shares rising about 5.1% as the company reported better-than-expected results. The company’s total revenue grew 13.3% year over year to a record $5.7 billion, while adjusted diluted EPS rose 26.8% to $2.46. Its fee revenue increased 11%, primarily reflecting net new business, higher market values and higher client activity.

Analysts expect BNY’s diluted EPS to increase 23.5% year over year to $9.26 for the fiscal year ending in December 2026. BNY has surpassed consensus EPS estimates in each of the past four quarters, which is impressive.

Among the 18 analysts covering BNY stock, the consensus rating is “Moderate Buy.” The rating is based on 11 “Strong Buys,” one “Moderate Buy,” and six “Holds.”

This configuration is more bullish compared to a month ago, when the stock had nine “Strong Buy” recommendations.

On August 4, Barclays analyst Jason Goldberg maintained a “Buy” rating on Bank of New York Mellon and kept the $178 price target unchanged. Goldberg has a 71.1% success rate and a 15.7% average return over the past year.

Based on analysts’ estimates, the mean price target of $171.50 implies a 7% premium to BNY’s current share price. The Street-high price target of $185 implies a 15.4% upside.
