Are Wall Street Analysts Bullish on Align Technology Stock?

With a market cap of $11.4 billion, Align Technology, Inc. (ALGN) is a global medical device company best known for its Invisalign clear aligners, Vivera retainers, and iTero intraoral scanners. The company provides advanced orthodontic and restorative digital solutions across the United States, Switzerland, and international markets.

Shares of the Tempe, Arizona-based company have lagged behind the broader market over the past 52 weeks. ALGN stock has increased nearly 12% over this time frame, while the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX) has gained 18.7%. Moreover, shares of the company have risen 1.8% on a YTD basis, compared to SPX's 12.1% return.

Looking closer, shares of the Invisalign tooth-straightening system maker have also underperformed the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF's (XLV) 25.8% surge over the past 52 weeks.

Align Technology has underperformed due to stagnating North American clear-aligner demand, intensifying competition and concerns over market-share erosion. Weakness in its iTero scanning business and softer North American demand has also weighed on growth and investor sentiment. Valuation concerns, EU antitrust scrutiny and uncertainty around the company’s ability to deliver sustained strong growth have further pressured the stock.

For the fiscal year ending in December 2026, analysts expect Align Technology’s adjusted EPS to grow 10.9% year-over-year to $9.38. The company's earnings surprise history is mixed. It topped the consensus estimates in three of the last four quarters while missing on another occasion.

Among the 16 analysts covering the stock, the consensus rating is a “Moderate Buy.” That’s based on 10 “Strong Buy” ratings, five “Holds,” and one “Moderate Sell.”

This configuration is slightly more bullish than three months ago, with nine “Strong Buy” ratings on the stock.

On Aug. 19, Piper Sandler analyst Jason Bednar maintained a “Buy” rating on Align Technology and a $235 price target.

The mean price target of $207.07 represents a 30.1% premium to ALGN's current price. The Street-high price target of $240 suggests a 50.8% potential upside.
