The backstory
Locals probably didn't know what to expect when the former trance DJ Anselm Guise inherited Elmore Court from his uncle — but the fact he breathed new life into what has been his family’s seat for many a century has turned out well from an environmentalism perspective. As well as taking a fresh approach to hosting guests through these custom-designed cabins in Park Covert Woods, Guise has also given over a quarter of the 1,000-acre estate to rewilding. Overlooking biodiversity-boosting wetlands, the westerly views from these six elevated abodes offer panoramas that lend a sense of safari here near the River Severn — a nod to Anselm’s childhood in Africa. Eco-escape lovers will be relieved the estate never followed Country House Rescue's advice from the TV show back in 2009, when the hosts of the Channel 4 programme suggested the stately home become a cookery school.
