The Boston Celtics made some big swings during the offseason. Brad Stevens acquired Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday via trade. Boston now has the best “top six” in the NBA and is widely viewed among the favorites to win a championship at the end of the current season. However, not everybody has faith in the Celtics.
Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix believes the Milwaukee Bucks are the most likely franchise to emerge from the Eastern Conference and make the NBA Finals. Mannix believes the duo of Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo will be too much for Boston, or any other team in the East, to stop over a seven-game series.
Given the Celtics’ top-end strength and the defensive upside of their bench unit, they will likely feel confident heading into a playoff series against Milwaukee – assuming they’re healthy throughout the roster. Stevens rolled the dice with his roster moves this summer and will want to see a quick return on those investments.
You can watch Mannix’s reasoning for choosing Milwaukee in the embedded clip above.
