The Houston Texans and Brandin Cooks will have to work together one last time if the former 2014 New Orleans Saints first-round pick wants out of Houston.
Cooks has made it known he does not want to be a part of another rebuild. The wideout, who will be 30 years old on Sept. 25, would prefer to compete for a Super Bowl rather than waste what is left of his prime on another rebuild.
According to Jon Heath, managing editor of the Broncos Wire, Denver quarterback Russell Wilson liked a tweet from Cooks from Jan. 31 wherein the wideout wrote “God willing” along with a bow and arrow, which plays into Cooks’ nickname being the Archer.

The tweet is especially relevant in the wake of Denver hiring Cooks’ former Saints coach, Sean Payton. The Oregon State product spent the first three seasons of his career in New Orleans, tallying two 1,000-yard campaigns in his first three seasons.
The irony of Cooks preferring the Broncos, if indeed that is what his tweet implied, is they have not won a playoff game since 2015, and they have posted one winning season since. Like the Texans, they have completed three consecutive double-digit losing seasons, and will usher in a third new coaching staff. They have the 16th-most salary cap space at $11.9 million, and won’t pick until Round 3 for the next two drafts.
At least the Broncos aren’t a rebuild though.
