After entering the villa mid-season as a bombshell, US-based Mercedes stole the heart of this year’s feisty Mamacita Em and throughout their run on the show, they’ve seemed inseparable.
But unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.
Are Love Island Australia 2024 winners Em and Mercedes still together?
Speaking to PEDESTRIAN.TV, Love Island Australia 2024 winner Em revealed that she and Mercedes are no longer together. However, they’ve ended things on good terms.
“Mercedes and I not together. We do have a good friendship, and we speak quite regularly,” the 26-year-old model began.
While she didn’t spill on the specific reason behind their relationship’s demise, Em did share that being on Love Island was a “wild experience” and that returning to reality was quite difficult, which could’ve put a strain on their connection.
“I think coming [back from] the villa, it’s honestly such a wild experience,” Em continued.
“Being thrust back into reality was really difficult for me. Maybe less so for him, because he’s the season pro at this point. But yeah, I don’t know.
“I definitely just needed my space, and then that space kind of turned into something more permanent. But I think it, yeah, it was the right decision for us not to be together.”
In an email, Mercedes confirmed the split and echoed Em’s sentiment that they’re still buddies post-Majorca romance.
“My relationship with Em is good,” the reformed FBoy wrote.
“Unfortunately we are no longer together and truly I think that’s for the best. She’s an amazing woman but I don’t think we would work longer term and I wouldn’t want to waste either of our time.
“We’re still good friends and I’ll be seeing her when I come to AU. I am single as a person can be.”
For the US-based islander, it’s not all doom and gloom that his relationship with Em didn’t work out (or so I think so).
Mercedes is seemingly raking in all the reality TV money after it was revealed that Love Island Australia is the third dating show he’s ever won. The blue-eyed great hunk of American spunk previously won Seasons 2 and 3 of FBoy Island, so the man is getting some serious dosh.
Hopefully, next year’s Love Island Australia will birth us another golden couple, like Season 4’s Claudia and Austen.
