Are Indian students moving from choosing destinations to mapping careers?

The decision to study abroad is increasingly becoming a decision about what comes after graduation. For years, the traditional approach was relatively straightforward. Students would first identify a preferred country, shortlist universities and programmes, and then consider the career opportunities available after completing their studies. That sequence is gradually changing.

Students are now asking different questions. What kind of career can this qualification lead to? What skills will I develop? How strong is the local job market? What will my earning potential look like after graduation? And if I eventually return to India, will the international qualification and experience continue to create value?
